Relief Printing
Relief printing involves cutting the surface in a way that retains only the intended design for printing. Techniques like woodcut and linocut (which I prefer) fall under this category.
When printing, the raised surface transfers ink onto the paper, while the recessed areas remain uninked. Using a printing press isn't always necessary, as hand-rubbing or pressing the paper's back with tools like a brayer or roller suffices.
For multicolored prints, my preferred technique is reduction printing.
But I also master the multi-block printing and the jigsaw method.
What fascinates me about this technique is its unpredictability. Despite meticulous planning, the outcome is always unique—there's an element of surprise in each print that I find exciting.
